Three school teachers arrested in Al-Abbasiah, South Kordofan

There continues to be large scale arbitrary arrests of civilians  from South Kordofan in the context of the conflict between the Sudanese Government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North (SPLM-N).

It is believed that all of the detainees were targeted solely because they are suspected of involvement with or support for the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North (SPLM-N).  Their detention incommunicado without access to their families and lawyers is putting them at risk of torture or other ill-treatment.

On December 16, 2012 three school teachers were arrested in Al-Abbasiah, South Kordofan. They are are civilians who are perceived to be politically connected to SPLM-N:

1. Ahmed Musa Ahmed Almagbool:

He was arrested by military intelligence members from Abubakr School’s buildings. He was taken to the garrison in Al-Abbasih ,Tagalli.  His family was not informed of his arrest and detention until the 22 December.

2. Babiker Adam Babiker:

He was arrested by the military intelligence from inside school.

3. Adam Saaid

He was arrested by the military intelligence in Al-Abbasih’s market.

All the detainees since June 2011 were not involved in any political activity, besides they have not been charged with specific charges at the time of arrest.

SUDO UK condemns the arbitrary arrests of civilians and call on the authorities to:
