The disappearance of the Lawyer Abdul Aziz Altoum
Abdul Aziz Altoum is a civil society and legal aid activist; he was part of the group that commenced legal action in the case Ali Abaker, a student at the University of Khartoum who was killed during the September demonstrations by Government Forces. Abdul Aziz is the former chairman of the intellectual and cultural association Called Almokshasha. He disappeared since the 12th of March 2014.
Abdul Aziz was last time seen in “Alsouq Alarabi” in the centre of Khartoum, near the insurance building with his friends who state that he left them on his way home. Abdul Aziz's family say that he never returned home.
His lawyer’s colleagues said they hold the bar association responsible for his disappearance, because they are supposed to look after their members.
1. SUDO UK Call on the Government to immediately and unconditionally release Abdul Aziz Altoum as he have been detained solely as a result of this peaceful and legitimate work in defence of human rights.
2. Inform his family of his whereabouts, and allow them and his legal counsel immediate and unfettered access.
3. Unconditionally release Abdul Aziz and all other detainees who were held without charges.
