SUDO UK is concerned about the continued attack on civilians by armed groups. On Sunday 16 June at 6:00 PM, Norain Ibrahim while driving his car, carrying passengers from Um Dawanban, South west Nyala, at a point 10Km from Nyala the car was ambushed by armed men in three four-wheeled cars, accompanied by a heavy truck. The armed men tried to hijack car. An accompanying passenger called Nyala by phone and a force came to rescue them. During the fighting the armed men used heavy artillery which resulted in one of these heavy bullets falling in a camp of nomads nearby killing:
1. Musa Mohammed Gibreel 70yrs, a deaf person
2. Abdelhafiz Bashir Dawaye 8yrs
SUDO UK condemns the intimidation and killing of civilians and calls on :
the UNAMID to exercise its responsibility towards the protection of civilians
the government of Sudan to investigate the incident and hold accountable those groups and individuals who violate the rights of the others.
