East Darfur-East Jabal Marra

When the Janjaweed militia attacked the areas of East Jabal Marra, civilians were forced to displace from their villages. Some of those civilians displaced to camps around Al Fasher, Shangel Tobaye and Nayala, but other were forced to flee to the top of the mountain above Fanga area. They are surrounded by the militia, preventing them from getting any assistance, the number of those who are being surrounded is around 956 persons, and the majority are women and children. These civilians are lacking health services and food as a result three women died from heavy bleeding and four children passed away due to unknown illnesses.

North Darfur-Abu-Shouk IDP Camp -7th March 2015

A group from the Rapid Support Force (RSF) entered the market in Abu Shouk camp in Al Fasher and opened fire at the civilian population in the market killing two and injuring four. Those killed are:

1-Musa Ali Abdalla (nicknamed Dinari), 40 years old lives in block 8, plot 14 in Abushouk camp.

2-Yahya Adam Teirab, 39 years, a driver of a donkey cart, who lives in Tora village, North Al Fasher on the road to Miliet.

Those who were injured:

1-Khamis Abdalla Abu Albanat, 45 years, he is in bad condition and transfered to Khartoum from Al Fasher hospital

2-Mohammed Yousif, 25 years, mentally unstable, lives in Abushouk camp

3-Mariam Ahmed, 50 years, lives in Abushouk village

4-Mohammed Ahmed Abakr, 35 years, lives in Alnasur, near Abushouk camp.


SUDO UK calls on the Government to disband the Rapid Support Forces as well as the Janjaweed as these are consistently committing human rights abuses in Darfur. All those individuals or groups responsible for committing human rights violations must be brought to justice.

SUDO UK calls on UNAMID to take strong action in order to fulfil its mandate, including its obligation to “prevent attacks against civilians, within its capability and areas of deployment, without prejudice to the responsibility of the Government of the Sudan”, and the requirement “to investigate and hold accountable those who are responsible, and promote efforts to disarm the Janjaweed and other militias”.
